I love how no one, no one, apparently on TMP has any clue how adsense works or how advertising and data collection work on the internet. Yes, google (and many other data collectors and brokers) know where you go on the internet, even if you delete your cache, even if you browse in private mode. Super-cookies, timing functions, and the relative stickiness of most broadband IPs can at least track your general household, if not a specific person living there.
They know where you are (roughly) based on your IP block alone. They can figure out a ton of statistically likely factors about you based on the site you're on (TMP, etc), the content and keywords and search terms used on and to find that site. They are really good about guessing (if they don't already have that information from a supplier, or some other information you supplied without knowing it was being used to pinpoint exactly how to advertise to you): your age, gender, income bracket, address and past addresses, job and past jobs, education, home owner status, political and social affiliations, rough family tree, health problems, sexual orientation/fetishes, and sometimes even partial credit and criminal history, etc. Some of that information is spot-on, some of it is very vague or even totally incorrect, but it's alarmingly accurate in more cases than not.
This stuff is used to create incredibly accurate profiles of everyone on the web and put them into various advertising brackets and demographics so that each person does in fact get a tailored advertising experience (within the fairly vague limits of the filters administrator sets up).
You don't have to visit a Russian Mail Order bride website in order for Google to know that you're an old, sad, lonely man who is likely to be tricked into participating in a scam (or legal semi-scam). They know that Asian Lady Boys are a statistically interesting / high traffic topic on TMP and on sites where TMP is linked to or discussed. Of course ads like that are going to appear on the site.
Most advertisers on big, wide-net ad services like adsense cater to the lowest common denominator of tech-inept users and the gullible. They're the only people who aren't wise to adblock yet. They're the only people still stupid enough to click the shadiest trick ads out there. Like the one RebelYell points out in that thread that looks like a download link and seems to be designed to look like it's a feature of the site it's being advertised on, with a big green inviting download button. Shit works, that's why they pay for it.

Drove past a local high school the other day, and some young girl was wearing yoga pants so tight one could count the muscles in her derriere!
She wasn't sloppy, though…
