Anyone else been playing this?
http://www.urban-rivals.com
(Apols if its a Col. - looked about and couldn,t find any reference anywhere).
Basically its an online CCG about putting together a weird gang of misfit characters and having a bit of a set-too.
I only just found it, but I think its got a few decent things going for it:
Its free. Well, registration and your first 'deck' of character is free (thats 8 characters from a couple of the Clans; out of about 5-600 total chracters from more than a dozen Clans total). You can actually play with just the starters and many people do, but of course the emphasis is on you to buy credits to get more. But you can actually win credits in game to buy characters, so its slower to progress and build, but still free.
Gameplay. Whilst its not the most sophisticated CCG ever, that does make it very easy to learn and simple & quick to play; but it still has some surprising depth, with a poker like bidding mechanic that works in conjunction with your character abilities and overall deck build strategy.
Not saying you won't get pwned by a Level 147 ubergeek with his all-rares deck, but its not really like that cos of deck-build limits, meaning you've always got a chance (I've beaten some level 60+ players with just the starting characters at level 8-9).
Support.Seems like its been around a while (must be others on here who've played it and know more than me) and is well supported with a decent web site and well run games.
All games are 2-player head-to-head consisting of 4 rounds of fighting - takes about 5 minutes to play a game.
Java based (I think) so seems to run easily in most browsers - even runs on my work machine which is shite with loads of internet blocks and game filters.
The other great thing is there is a really good iphone/ipod touch app, so you can play it on that if you're out & about and killing time.
All in all I think its a quite a nice little game for when you have the odd ten minutes to spare, with a bit of longevity to it as you get new characters and build new decks.
If anyone's interested then I've started a Guild there called:
FU-UK-URs
and my account username is:
Uncl
If you wanna put me as a sponsor when you register then no probs and I'd be grateful, (basically means I get a 10% bonus everytime you buy summat in the online store there - if you do put me as a sponsor and I get some sort of notice of when you spend I'll happily pass over half what I get to you), but not really fussed about that - not trying to pimp the game cos I want the free creds, just cos I think its got some merits and might be fun to get a few Frothers on there.
Apols for the cross posting - wasn't sure whether to put this here or in Virtual Frother, so went for both. _________________ For jumbo fun, get yerself a Strap-On at http://www.frothersunite.com/files/UnclEvl/Lab/ |

Update - my FU-UK-URs Guild was turned down:
I'm sorry to tell you that the guild FU-UK-URs was refused or deleted.
The reasons for this may be:
- a name similar to the name of an already existing guild
- a name or a description either offensive or too badly spelled
- no customization of the guild's description
- inapropriate theme
Feel free to create a new guild, with these information in mind. I'll be happy to accept it
Also remember that your guild will be automatically closed if you have less than 4 members 3 days after it has been accepted.
At your service!
Kate
Ps: You can contact my team of moderatir by sending a mail at moderator@urban-rivals.com
Gonna try and set it up as Frothers instead, see if they find that less offensive. _________________ For jumbo fun, get yerself a Strap-On at http://www.frothersunite.com/files/UnclEvl/Lab/ |
