I came home from GenCon UK having rediscovered my froth for OOP and unlikely CCGs, including the old Babylon 5 CCG by Precedence. Anyone here have any cards and fancy a game...? Wink

I've got piles of 'em! I loved the show, and got all my friends playing, though they never watched the show.

We loved it, even with the rules oddities (attacks work how again? What does that mark do for me?)

I lost track of it around the psi corps expansion, but picked up a box of the later cards for some crazy-low price not too long ago. Hmm, I'll have to try and get my current friends playing.

Oh, and the Battlestar Galactica CCG borrowed heavily from the mechanics of the B5, although it too, appears to be dead.

I have the Battlestar Galactica game here too, but to be honest I don't see any similarities at all...

I thought the conflict->resolution phases and the promotion of characters and ships was kinda similar.

But YMMV Very Happy

If I was in your neck of the woods I'd offer a game! My Narns have been itching for a fight.

Do you live anywhere near Coventry? If so you might want to try the National event they're holding there this weekend?

(the following is pasted from the Yahoogroup):

---

The Babylon 5 UK Nationals (yes really...) are back. They will be held at Bishop Games in Coventry as part of "Hangover from Hell" starting at 12pm on November 10. The full details about Hangover, how to get there and so on are
below. This includes the email address of the organiser, Neil Palframan. What you really want to know now though are the details.

UK Nationals, constructed deck, starts at 12pm, 3 rounds with optional Final Round depending on time and turnout. Each round will be 70-80 minutes and run using "Engine" rules. Please bring at least 3 decks of different races. You can email me directly to register race preferences if you like.
"Engine" Rules, what does this mean? This basically means the old Precedence rules cleaned up with the exceptions
below. It also means that you can use the two "unpublished" sets (Vorlons and Anla'Shok) but NOT Masterpiece collection nor any cards YOU made up. And you still can't play Surprise. The new sets and rules can be found on my webpage at http://www.ucs.mun.ca/~bmason/b5/ The major things to watch out for are:

- Power Cap rule: no card except for Major Agendas and Drakh Agendas can let you COUNT more than +5 Power. This does not affect cards which let you GAIN Power. (E.g. It affects Support of the Mighty but not Eyes and Ears). Drakh Agendas and Major Agendas are capped at COUNTing +10 Power.
- If you are not playing a Babylon 5 Faction (e.g. you're playing Psi Corps) you can still cast your race's vote if your race's Babylon Project faction is not in play.
- Shadow War. This no longer causes players to require a major victory to win. It still prevents Babylon 5 victories. When the Shadow War starts all "Shadow Tainted" factions declare war on all "Vorlon Tainted" factions. (It is a war after all). If the Shadow War has not started, you cannot stop it.
- Mercenary cards: scrap all the stuff about bidding. When you sponsor a mercenary you have control of it BUT any player may pay its Printed Influence Cost as an action to take control of it until the end of the turn. (Naturally, multiple players might do this one after the other - think Dureena Nafeel).

Card Errata:
Elizabeth Trent: must rotate to use her ability
Full Mobilization: gains POWER not Influence
Eyes and Ears: the bonus is not cumulative with other copies of E&E

New Rulings
The Third Age (published promo card): the unpublished cards (Anla'shok and Vorlons) do not have official copyright dates (they aren't really cards) therefore do not count as having copyright dates of 1999 or later. I know it's a fudge but it's either that or I ban the Third Age card.

For full details and the explanations behind this, see my webpage or the wiki site I'm using: http://b5quest.pbwiki.com/B5CCG

Cheers
Bruce

Right now on to the good news, the Coventry CCG Convention that has come to be know as "Hangover from Hell", is once again taking place this year. It is to be located at the Bishop Games store in Coventry city entre. The store has a games room suitable for approx 70 players so is ideal for our needs. The convention will be taking place on the weekend of the 10th/11th of Nov, due to clashing issues this is the most available date for the event. The weekend will see a range of games being played all weekend including card games, board games and any other types of games we can fit in.

Now to the cost of the event, it will cost £1 for entry into the convention and then some events may charge for entry on top of this (mainly to cover product if sealed or prizes). Of the £1 entry fee for the convention, we will guarantee that 50p will go to this years designated charity. Last year we raised over £30 for Children in Need.

Current events scheduled include:

Sat - Babylon 5 CCG Unofficial UK Nationals, Start 12pm, constructed using all printed and cards from the Vorlon and Anlashok expansions which can be found at http://www.hangoverfromhell.co.uk/b5.htm, £1 entry fee that cover something for the winner with any left over going to charity. Sat - Lord of the Rings TCG (Decipher), 12pm start, more information available when confirmed.

Sun - EVE CCG, standard constructed event starting at 12pm. Cost £3 to coverprizes for all, which will include boosters and foils. Sun - Lord of the Rings TCG (Decipher), 12pm start, more information available when confirmed.

Keep an eye out on http://www.hangoverfromhell.co.uk/index.htm for it to be
finally updated with this years confirmed events.

For those of you that don't know where the store is check out http://www.bishopgames.co.uk/ which will give you info on how to get to the shop.

If anyone need any more info then please feel free to contact me.

Cheers

Neil

P.S - Please pass on to those that you feel will be interested...
