Tea Party category:

Judges Comments: This category was distinguished by some great characterizations and imaginative interpretations of the crazy inhabitants of the Tea Party scene, especially the Hatter.

The Winners:

#1 Mad Hatter cringing in shocked outrage - Fat Goblin (Kai Teck)
#2 Mad Hatter - Ed Foster and Mad Hatter - Alex M
#3 Doormouse in tea pot - Rob
and Mad hatter upside down - Ben Pung

Alex M's "Mad Hatter"

"A fine traditional hatter with a huge hat, although a flat top might have worked better. Nice detailing on the clothing, with cartoony rather than realistic anatomy but the top and bottom halves appear slightly disconnected and limbs this thin are a nightmare to cast."

Ben Pung's "Mad Hatter"

"A great design, though the sculpt mixes some well worked details (such as the cup and hat) with weaker large features (such as the rubber limbs and stuck-on feet), with tool marks rather than cloth details on the main figure."

Uncle Pete says 'Soft and strange, looks like it could have been sculpted from earwax. Some of the details are good'

BobC's "Kurt von Doormouse in Panzer IV teapot"

"A very amusing idea, but let down by the actual sculpt, with apparently more tool-marks than deliberate details. Probably Bob's best entry, if we were to give him his own category."

Ed Foster's "Mad Hatter"

"Plenty of character in this little fella- a very cartoony mad hatter, but quite funny. He looks to be aiming a teapot with a gunbarrel sticking from it, but the details are not really distinct enough to entirely pull this off."

Fatgoblin's "Mad Hatter cringing in shocked outrage"

"Nice character design, the impression of a stuffy/foppish hatter is pulled of well. The technical control is the best in the category, with good detailing and smooth putty work, despite some issues with the pose and anatomy- see how long you can actually hold this pose for without support."

Uncle Pete says ' I have the green in my hand now and actually the pictures don't really do it justice... much better in the flesh than it looks in these pics'.

Rob's "Doormouse in Teapot "

"Nice idea with competent putty work, though you can't help feeling Rob has slightly bottled out of actually sculpting the subject . Good fun though. "
